This year's star-studded Cannes Film Fesitval was as glamorours as ever. Here's what we loved and loathed about some of the most interesting celebrity hairstyles.

Nicole Kidman

From the front, Kidman’s side-swept ponytail looks soft and elegant. The delicate roll above her right ear gives a touch of volume and structure. From the back, however, we aren’t sure what to make of this messy waterfall-braid.

Blake Lively

The Gossip Girl style icon has some seriously coveted tresses. Sleeked back into a voluminous bun, Lively looks perfectly polished in this classic style. We hate that you can see pins sticking out when she turns her head in some photos, though.

Naomi Watts

Watts’ blonde hair looks effortlessly chic brushed back with loose curls swept to the side. We love the way her hair gathers into the curls at the back. It's a good twist on the over-done "side-swept" hair trend.

Jess Weixler

Weixler’s intricate bun looks somewhat unfinished. The fishtail wrap-around is a unique look, however the middle section of the bun looks as though it should be hidden. We do give her points for trying something unconventional, though.

Marion Cotillard

We love Cotillard's smooth style. The faux bob pulled back from her face accentuates her cheekbones and its simplicity contrasts nicely with her ornate Dior dress. We appreciate that she dares to be different!

It's a New Year!

Out with the old and in with the new! as much as it may be difficult for people to say goodbye to 2013 i always feel its so nice to put another year behind us and reflect on what a year it has been. I'm not talking about setting up new year's resolutions, but just reflecting on the good the bad and the ugly of 2013. a chance to mend any scars or tie some loose ends and start 2014 with a fresh new outlook and look look!!! that's right people. new year new look. it's basically Xmas for fashionistas !!!!! every store is having blowout sales on everything from dresses to shoes to household goods. Its a perfect time to do a little shopping and spice up the new year. sure the new arrivals of 2014 are not on sale, but who says we need to follow every trend? its a new year, lets make it a new you. I'm tired of reading about what were supposed to look like. My resolution to myself, is to be myself!! So rather then fill the following page with what society expects you to look like i would rather keep this Blog a blank canvas, so that you can create explore and discover your new you!

Here are a few tips on where to start;

1. your closet! that's right, when was the last time you cleaned out your closet. i'm sure there are tones of hidden treasures in there as well as ship wrecks, so start by cleaning out your closet and re-asses your fashion situation.
2. CHANGE YOUR HAIR!!! Its time to grow some Chutzpah!!! Now I'm not saying all "stylists" are qualified for this type of transformation, but if you feel yours isn't, then maybe its time for a change there too. Ask around, ask people who you've admired for there hairstyles over the years, who they go to. a good stylist will be able to look at you and your overall life style and suggest a look that would best suit your needs. the problem with most women, is they get so comfortable with a stylist that it becomes a relationship, and like all relationships we tend to get into a comfort zone where we feel its OK to wear flannel pajamas or fart in front of each-other and pass it off as sort of sexy, we forget what its like to feel sexy or desired, but let me say, the main ingredient in your spicy dish of life is you!! you are your own chef and what you put in is what you will get out. 
3. Hit up the trendy shops in your area, they tend to have the best selection of unique fashions. sometimes after assessing your closet situation a few good pieces is all you need to make all the difference.  

That is all for now ladies, so, let's make sure that we start the year on the right foot so when we reach the end of the year we don't feel like we landed on our faces! here's to 2014!!

Stylist therapy

Do you have a stylist? If, not I suggest you get one. And this is why :

Certain days may come along when feel like you've just had enough...when will things get easier? I don't think they ever really do, we just gain character and knowledge from our trauma. We grow stronger. In our everyday lives, it's becoming harder and harder to find someone to talk to. Someone who will just listen, without budding in and turning their issues into yours. The stress we all hold in this day and age is absolutely exhausting, and the hardest lesson to learn is that you will only ever be able to rely on yourself. It's sad when you really think about, but most people are just looking out for themselves. Who can you trust?

You're already in anticipation waiting for the day of your appointment to arrive, and once it does you're elated. Because you know this day is for you. You're greeted by the lovely receptionists with warm smiles, and genuine delight to see you. You're escorted to the coat area to hang up your jacket, and grab a robe to keep warm. You're then brought over to the sinks to have your hair washed, and your scalp massaged to relax you, and relieve you from the weight on your shoulders. This is pure bliss. An assistant will bring you over to your stylists chair, brush out you hair, and offer you something to drink. Warm or cold, we have it. 
Your stylist then arrives, always happy to see you. Once you've found a hairdresser who you think is a perfect fit for you, you're visits will never be the same. You may be sometimes surprised to the things you reveal to your stylist. He/she is there to listen to you, and to support you. They are there not only to make you feel your absolute best, but to lend you an ear.
You depart with a hug, and gratitude for the experience and results you have just received. You leave, anticipating your next visit. After all, a day all about you, is a day that can never go wrong.

Une fois que vous avez trouvé un coiffeur qui vous pensez est un ajustement parfait pour vous, vous êtes des visites seront plus jamais les mêmes. Vous pouvez être parfois surpris de ce que vous révéler à votre styliste. Il / elle est là pour vous écouter et vous soutenir. Ils sont là non seulement pour vous faire sentir à votre meilleur, mais de vous prêter une oreille.

Vous partez avec une accolade, et de gratitude pour l'expérience et les résultats que vous venez de recevoir. Vous partez, anticiper votre prochaine visite. Après tout, un jour tout de vous, c'est un jour qui ne peut jamais se tromper.

Fall trends 2013

                   

It's hard to imagine that summer has officially come to an end, and that winter is just at our fingertips. We really do have such a limited time with the heat, and the beautiful sun rays. Now, we can choose to sit in perpetual sadness, and denial over the fact that our beaches are closed, or we can embrace the fact that we can finally show off our jackets, boots, hats, ect. In my opinion, Fall is the most comfortable season, and we have much more of a wardrobe selection!
Fall 2013 fashion week has just passed, and I have seen much of what had already been seen. There is the acception  of a few new fashion trend gems. For example, white after labor day?! I like it!    
Il est difficile d'imaginer que l'été est officiellement arrivé à son terme, et que l'hiver est juste au bout de nos doigts. Nous avons vraiment si peu de temps avec la chaleur et les beaux rayons de soleil. Maintenant, nous pouvons choisir de s'asseoir dans la tristesse perpétuelle, et le déni du fait que nos plages sont fermées, ou nous pouvons accepter le fait que nous pouvons enfin montrer nos vestes, bottes, chapeaux, ect. À mon avis, l'automne est la saison la plus confortable, et nous avons beaucoup plus d'une sélection de garde-robe!

Automne 2013 semaine de la mode vient de passer, et j'ai vu beaucoup de ce qui avait déjà été vu. Il est l'acception de quelques nouvelles gemmes tendance de la mode. Par exemple, le blanc après la fête du travail!

WHITE AFTER LABOR DAY -

Who ever though this day would ever be accepted?! White after labor day has been almost "forbidden", but I am elated over this open idea. As long as you can keep yourself clean, why not? Nothing says classy, like a beautiful white, fitted fall coat!



BLANC APRES LA FETE DU TRAVAIL -

Qui a jamais que ce jour n'arriverait jamais être acceptée?! Blanc après la fête du travail a été presque "interdit", mais je suis ravi sur cette idée ouverte. Tant que vous pouvez vous tenir propre, pourquoi pas? Rien ne dit chic, comme un beau manteau d'automne équipée blanc!


 












  






MILITARY -

I'm not surprised to see the military trend back on runways, this look has been everlasting, yet evolving. The beautiful embroider and tailoring, basically blew me away. Never have a seen a woman look son powerful, strong and classy. I can't wait to see how people will react to this!

MILITAIRE -

 Je ne suis pas surpris de voir la tendance militaire de retour sur les pistes, ce look est éternelle, encore en pleine évolution. La belle broderie et la couture, essentiellement m'a bluffé. Ne jamais avoir vu une femme un regard fils puissant, solide et élégant. Je ne peux pas attendre de voir comment les gens vont réagir à cela!

FUR COATS - 

Oh, how I adore the fur coat. This fall seasons trend is pushing you to wear over-sized fur coats, I say, go for it! I am almost speechless when it comes to speaking about the magnitude of beauty a simple fur coat can portray. If you plan on showing off your favorite piece, there are a few things to keep in mind. Keep your accessories limited, and your outfit should be simply elegant. A fur coat is an extravagant piece, you don't want to push it too its limit! 


PELISSES -

 Oh, comment j'adore le manteau de fourrure. Cette tendance saisons d'automne vous pousse à porter des manteaux de fourrure surdimensionnées, je dis, allez-y! Je suis presque sans voix quand il s'agit de parler de l'importance de la beauté d'un manteau de fourrure simple peut représenter. Si vous prévoyez de montrer votre morceau préféré, il ya quelques choses à garder à l'esprit. Gardez vos accessoires limitée, et votre tenue doit être simplement élégant. Un manteau de fourrure est une pièce extravagante, vous ne voulez pas le pousser trop sa limite!

 

Upcoming Fall hair trends!

The summer is nearing its end, and in my opinion, it was very short lived! For us Canadians, we have a  very limited time frame to soak up as much Vitamin D as possible! The summer season has been short, yet sweet, filled with many new memories, and many new friends. This means many more stories to tell. One thing I had noticed through out the summer, was the overload of bleach blondes! Attention ladies, we are about to be hit with one of the most beautiful seasons of all, fall. At this time of year, the deep, rich colors of nature are blossoming. Its the perfect time for change, weather it's your personal style, or your hair color, change is always fun! Why not get a little creative for the season?! Here are some new, up and coming hair trends for Fall 2013:

 
Hair Like Honey:
For a deeper blonde hair color, follow Taylor Swift's cues. She has a tiny shadow at the root, which darkens her hue and makes it a deeper version of a blonde.
Look for terms like "medium honey blonde"

Cheveux comme le miel:
Pour une couleur de cheveux blond profond, suivre les signaux de Tayor Swift. Elle a une petite ombre à la racine, ce qui assombrit sa teinte et rend une version plus profond d'une blonde. 
Recherchez des termes comme "blond miel moyen"

Strawberry gold:

If you're having trouble parting from your strawberry-colored strands, go just a hint deeper than they were this summer. Add a golden red hue to your hair like Blake Lively is flaunting here.
Look for terms like "golden red" or "rich, golden strawberry"

 L'été touche à sa fin, et à mon avis, il a été de très courte durée! Pour nous, les Canadiens, nous avons un laps de temps très limité pour absorber autant de vitamine D que possible! La saison estivale a été courte, mais doux, rempli de beaucoup de nouveaux souvenirs, et beaucoup de nouveaux amis. Cela signifie beaucoup plus d'histoires à raconter. Une chose que j'avais remarqué tout au long de l'été, c'est la surcharge de blondes de blanchiment! Attention Mesdames, nous sommes sur le point d'être frappé avec une des plus belles saisons de tous, tombent. A cette époque de l'année, les couleurs riches et profondes de la nature sont en plein essor. C'est le moment idéal pour le changement, le temps c'est votre style personnel, ou votre couleur de cheveux, le changement est toujours amusant! Pourquoi ne pas faire un peu de créativité pour la saison! Voici quelques nouvelles, et à venir tendances cheveux pour l'automne 2013:

I think that we had made the assumption that a hot, sunny summer wouldn't be delivered this year. It seemed as though the rain, and grey skies would never leave. Boy, were we wrong. Out of nowhere, we have been hit with sunny, hot, and extremely humid weather. It's humid to the point where fans are just blowing warm air, its almost unbearable. I can imagine that a good majority of you will be spending most, if not all your spare time either lounging by the pool, or soaking up the sun at the beach. Seeing as we only have about 2 months of actual summer, I know we all appreciate the heat when we have it. The downside is that the sun, and chlorine dries out our skin and hair. Je pense que nous avions fait l'hypothèse que, un été chaud et ensoleillé ne serait pas livré cette année. Il semblait que la pluie et le ciel gris ne quitterait jamais. Boy, nous étions mal. Sorti de nulle part, nous avons été frappés par temps ensoleillé, chaud et très humide. C'est humide, au point où les fans sont juste souffler de l'air chaud, il est presque insupportable. On June 9th, the Toronto convention center held the 2013 L'oreal color trophy. The L’Oréal Color Trophy combines international fashion, inspirational creativity and innovative live hairdressing in a spectacular and incredible competition.The Grand Finale Gala itself has become a truly magnificent gala boasting a champagne reception, artistic presentation from a renowned international hairdresser, the highest calibre of live hairdressing Canada has to offer, fashion presentations, and not to mention the after-party that our own Salon Augustin stylists attended and danced the night away.
